A Message from the AMC President
March 24, 2020
Dear AMC Members:
Thank you all for your outstanding work and commitment to helping our communities throughout the state in the face of this pandemic. Officials and staff throughout Minnesota’s 87 counties immediately rose to the occasion and have faced these extraordinary challenges head-on, and you deserve to be commended.
We are undoubtedly living in unprecedented times. We now find ourselves, daily, adjusting strategies, work schedules, family responsibilities, and basic life routines in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Please continue to access the resources of our association! AMC strives to stay on top of the constant stream of current news and guidance to provide you detailed information, daily updates and recommendations. We are here to help you and your county as we all navigate this ever-evolving situation with truly impressive flexibility and nimbleness because we’re working for the good of all.
It is not business as usual for anyone these days, as we all well know, but AMC is still working for you. The AMC building is closed and staff is working remotely, the Board of Directors meetings have been cancelled until further notice, and the Executive Committee will continue to meet weekly, via teleconference, to conduct the business of the association.
Your leadership, calm demeanor, and reassurances to the public, constituents, businesses, and all those you serve will be as important now as at any time in your communities’ history.
I encourage you to network, share information, ask question and learn from others. Stress to others the importance of following health protocols and the recommendations of organizations like the CDC so that we can bend the curve now so that we may all resume normal life sooner.
We are all in this together, and together we will navigate this to a positive outcome. I wish you all well and look forward to connecting soon.
Stay Safe and Be Well,
Rich Sve, Lake County Commissioner
President, Association of Minnesota Counties
